"MIT speaker cables are easily recognisable by the boxes at the speaker end of the cables which are often left hanging from the terminals. These boxes are controversial as some people say they contain nothing but ferrite rings while those who have actually cracked them open have found circuitry comprising resistors, capacitors and inductors (The Absolute Sound magazine conducted such surgery on MIT’s flagship Oracle some months ago – Editor)."
